To lengthen the line squeeze the orange tabs in the head and pull towards you so it pops off. Then slightly lift the grey spool about 1/2 cm to allow the line to be lengthened. The line exit through the gap under the metal bits. Pull the line out of that until approx 10cm in length - reaching the little plastic spike on the grey line guard.
